Dentures are a removable, custom-made appliance that can take the place of missing teeth and help restore your smile. With today’s advancements in dentistry, dentures are now more natural looking and comfortable than before.

At DDS Associates, we offer two types of dentures – complete and partial. You may be a candidate for complete dentures if you are missing all of your teeth. If you have lost some teeth, but there are natural teeth remaining, partial dentures would be a great option for you.

The process of getting dentures requires several appointments, usually over several weeks. We will take a series of impressions are measurements to make sure that your dentures are tailored to fit you specifically. After impressions are taken, there will be several “try-in” appointments so that we can guarantee your dentures fit properly and have a color and shape that is to your liking. At the final appointment, we will adjust and place the completed denture, ensuring a natural and comfortable fit.

It will take time for your mouth to adjust to the dentures. It is normal for them to feel a bit awkward for a few weeks until you become accustomed to them. It is not unusual to experience minor irritation or soreness. Until the muscles of your cheek and tongue learn to keep them in place, your dentures may also feel loose. You will have several follow up appointments where you will be able to consult your dentist about any concerns you may have.

Like regular teeth, your dentures should be brushed daily to remove food particles and plaque. Also, brush your gums, tongue and roof of your mouth with a soft-bristled brush before inserting your dentures back into your mouth. We will give you a complete list of care instructions once your treatment is complete.
